The University of Iowa received a verbal commitment from 3-star Cherry Creek quarterback, Alex Padilla. Alex tweeted his commitment on June 14th, 2018 saying,

“I’d like to thank my family and friends for supporting me throughout this entire process,” Padilla wrote. “I’d like to thank Coach Logan, Coach Betti, and the rest of my coaches at Cherry Creek, as well as all of my coaches over the years. Also thank you to the staffs at Jenkins Elite, Elite Speed, and Six Zero Strength for helping develop me into the athlete and young man I am today. Thank you to the coaches who have believed in me and spent their time recruiting me. With that being said, I’m proud to announce my commitment to The University of Iowa. Could not be more excited to be a Hawkeye!”

The 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds quarterback decided Iowa over schools such as: Central Michigan, Colorado State, Nevada, North Texas, UNLV and a number of Ivy League and other FCS schools.

It’s really a dream come true committing to Iowa. I’ve been dreaming about playing big time college football since I was a kid. It’s been a surreal couple days. It was an easy decision really, I loved everything about Iowa and I could not be more excited to be a Hawkeye! -Alex Padilla

Padilla lead his Cherry Creek high school team to a record of 9-3 during his junior season. He finished the year completing 182 of 269 passes for 2,678 yards with 40 touchdowns, along with being ranked 29th among pro-style quarterbacks nationally and No. 7 overall in Colorado.

Alex Padilla committing to Iowa is truly the beginning of our brand coming full circle. I began with Alex when he was a 7th grader and have been lucky enough to be on his football journey for the last five years. There is no harder worker in our program and I am so happy for him and his family. Iowa got another big time player in Alex and someone who has first round NFL potential! -Coach Tim Jenkins

Congratulations from Jenkins Elite and we are excited to see all you accomplish in the future!
