We are back for Football Talk Friday #26! This week we are breaking down X Mag Z Ghost which is a great pure progression down field concept.
With Trump Right Close Gun Zip OP Pass Slice Right X Mag Z Ghost, Quarterbacks use inside zone play action to influence the Will linebacker. After the fake they will take their eyes to the Mag Route. The Mag Route works up through 10 yards and then roll cuts in to find space behind the linebackers and in front of the third level defenders: the safeties. After checking the Mag Route, the QB will then work to his checkdown which is the Z on the Ghost Route.
We are going to watch Deshaun Watson navigate the pocket with tremendous movement patterns, escape to his right and hit DeAndre Hopkins all the way across the field for a 29 yard gain!
