Parker CO,
It is expected that a sophomore quarterback will go though his share of growing pains. However, Ponderosa quarterback Jack Hanenburg seems to be ahead of the learning curve as the Mustangs regular season starts to wind down with only three league games left to play.
Recently Jack was featured on Prepspotlight.tv on Monday October 1st highlighting Ponderosa’s 21-10 win over the Vista Ridge Wolves. After the first quarter the Mustangs were tied up 0-0 with the Wolves until Vista Ridge was able to force a fumble, which was then recovered by Vista Ridge. The Wolves were able to get down field but could only manage a field goal bringing the score 3-0.
“In the final seconds of the first half the Mustang’s coaching staff decided to let sophomore quarterback Jack Hanenburg throw a 85 yard bomb downfield to a racing Joe Hufford who beats the Vista Ridge defensive back for a touchdown.”
Back out on the field after halftime the Mustangs were still in scoring mode. Hanenburg was able to toss up another long-ball to Justin Babb to bring the score up 14-3. In the end Jack completed 13 for 20 attempts with 182 yards and three touchdowns to cap off a 21-10 win over Vista Ridge.
In the two weeks since that Vista Ridge win Ponderosa has been able to capture two more wins with the Sophomore quarterback upgrading their record to 5-2 on the season. Jack and the Mustangs will take on Aurora Central this Thursday night at 6:30pm located at Aurora Public Schools Stadium.
