This Week’s Breakdown
GOTW: 5A: Cherry Creek (9-0) V Grandview (8-1)
- No surprise that we see the Bruins at 9-0 coming into the last regular season game of the year. All season long star QB and Iowa commit Alex Padilla has led this team to win after win. After a 35-14 win last week over Cherokee Trail, Dave Logan and the Bruins will be looking to end on a perfect season.
- On the other side of the ball will be 8-1 Grandview. The Wolves have shown plenty of grit and talent this year as well, and you know that coach Shultz will want to knock Creek off of their perfect season. We’ve been saying his name all year, look for Jordan Billingsley to carry the load in this one.
- location & Time: Friday, 7 pm at Legacy Stadium
5A: ThunderRidge (7-2) V Castle View (7-2)
- ThunderRidge has had themselves a season so far. Coming into week 10 sitting at 7-2 after a closer than it looks 38-17 loss against Valor. The Grizzlies are looking poised for the playoffs and will want that eighth win before it starts up. Only one more team left in their way.
- Castle View needs to be on some more radars this year. After a terrible 2017 season, the Sabrecats have rallied around new head coach Todd Casebier. The Cats will be looking to Josh Mullenix to get the job done this week and have them rolling into the playoffs at 8-2.
- Location and Time: Friday, 7 pm at Douglas County High School Stadium
4A: Air Academy (6-2) V Rampart (6-2)
- After a tough 42-0 loss against Pueblo West last week the Kadets will be looking to bounce back in a big way. 7-2 is going to mean a lot come playoff time and they will look to Senior QB Bo Powers to get them there.
- Another team hoping to get to 7-2 before playoffs start is Rampart. After an impressive start to the season, the Rams are now eyeing a meaningful playoff birth. The dangerous thing about Rampart is just how many guys can score. The Rams have 3 backs this year that can all get in the end zone.
- Location and Time: Friday, 7 pm at District 20 Stadium
4A: Montrose (8-0) V Ponderosa (6-2)
- Montrose is the real deal man. 8-0 and looking to keep it rolling. After a very big win against Gateway last week the Indians are now sizing up 6-2 Ponderosa.
- Don’t let their record fool you, Pondo is a very good team. Their only losses have come from an undefeated 5a Valor Christian and a close 20-17 game one against Legend. Since then the Mustangs have been rolling, and they are showing no signs of slowing down. You will hear Jack Hanenburg’s name called plenty of times in this one.
- Location and Time: Saturday, 7 pm at Echo Park Stadium
3A: Palmer Ridge (6-2) V Lewis-Palmer (5-3)
- You know the deal with Palmer Ridge. Loaded with talent and looking unstoppable in their last few games. They come into week 10 wanting blood. These two teams hate each other like nothing else and we should see plenty of fire from both sides in the one. Ty Evans, Kaden Dudley, Duece Roberson and Anthony Costanzo are just a few of the usual suspects to look out for in this one
- Lewis-Palmer is hoping for a David and Goliath week. They are going to have their hands full with all the talent on the opposite side of the ball but they are feeling confident on the back of Senior RB Evan Walsh. They will need him this week in a big way.
- Location and Time: Friday, 7 pm at N/A
1A: Limon (8-0) V Holyoke (7-1)
- The 8-0 Badgers are having themselves a year and are now poised for a perfect season. A big part of that comes from Senior QB Cannan Bennet and Sophomore RB Kory Tacha. Look for the duo to take the game over in this one.
- Holyoke comes into the week at 7-1 and hungry for one more win before the playoffs. The Dragons have let their Freshman QB loose this year and they will be counting on him to have a big game this week.
- Location and Time: Friday, 7 pm at Limon High School
