This Week’s Breakdown
5A (1)Valor Christian VS. (3)Cherry Creek
- No surprises here, the Eagles have put together another impressive season after missing out on the championship last year. In a 2017 rematch against Grandview the Eagles were able to overcome the weather and Wolves in a close 31-29 brawl. Valor will rest their hopes on Senior QB Luke McCaffery and RB Josiah Davis in the 5A title.
- Cherry Creek was Colorado’s heir apparent in the 2018 season. The Bruins came into the year red hot and looking close to unbeatable. A few key injuries have slowed Creek down but they are just as dangerous as ever. Senior QB Alex Padilla and DE Alec Pell will lead the charge this week as the Bruins clash against the Eagles at Mile High.
- Saturday, 2:30 @ Mile High Stadium
4A (2)Loveland VS. (9)Skyline
- If you want to find a dominant team in Colorado look no further than Loveland. A truly overpowering team in the 4A division and their record reflects it. Their only close game was against a very solid 5A Ralston Valley squad that gave Cherry Creek a run for their money in the quarterfinals. Senior RB Zach Weinmaster has been absolutely electric this year with a total of 28 rushing TD’s and almost 2,000 yards. His number will be called plenty of times in this 4A faceoff.
- Skyline has been an underdog all year. Highly underrated and looked over, the Falcons took it to heart and set out to prove the state wrong. They will have to be perfect this time in a rematch of week 10. The score in that one was 42-14. The Falcons are shooting for a different outcome this time around and they will look to Sophomore QB Chase Silva and Senior RB Jeremy Hollingsworth to get it done.
- Saturday, 11 am @ Mile High
3A (2)Pueblo East VS. (4)Palmer Ridge
- Pueblo East has had a very strong year and they look to close it our with a championship trophy to add to their collection. They are coming into the title match all healthy again and looking very dangerous. Earlier in the year, they were able to best their opponent Palmer ridge in a 28-21 nailbiter. Senior QB Luc Andrada and FS Kain Medrano will be the Eagles showrunners in this title bout.
- Palmer Ridge has the opponent they were begging for the title game. A perfect rematch for the Bears after their close loss to the Eagles earlier in the year. Since then the Bears have looked scary good and on the Backs of Ty Evans, Duece Roberson, Anthony Castanzo, and Kaden Dudley they might just blow this game right open.
- Saturday, 1 pm @ CSU Pueblo Stadium
